PokerStars fire senior executives13 October 2015

The only companies that were awarded online gambling licenses from parent company Amaya, was Full tilt brand and PokerStars after Amaya agreed to fire 4 of their senior executives, the New Jersey Division of Gaming revealed to the public. Just as I Gaming Business has reported a bit earlier this month these brands Full tilt and PokerStars (owned by Amaya) received their licenses to operate online gambling services in the US state of New Jersey.

However these two Amaya brands were only able to get their licenses to secure their online gambling services, after Amaya agreed to get rid of four of their senior staff, reported in an 89 page report by the New Jersey DGE. This reported also stated that Amaya had to let go of these four staff members on/ before the 30th January 2016, these four staff members that were to be let go Had been identified by the Division as failing to establish the requisite good character, integrity and honesty required by New Jersey Casino Control Act due to their involvement in the PokerStars entities in the business activities between the enactment of UIGEA and Black Friday.

The regulator did not mention names of the four employees that were to be let go, but it did mention that it had carried out complete investigations of these four senior executives that had ties to the previous regime before the brands were acquired by Amaya, as part of the purchase of Rational Group.

In a statement, Amaya said it had “irrevocably and totally extinguishing the ownership interest of Isai and Mark Scheinberg” as well as ensuring that the Scheinbergs and any other tainted executives “will have no further involvement in the operation or management of their former companies”. In relation to that statement made by Amaya, they have also agreed to inform the regulator about any of these four executives if they try to influence, or even communicate to an employee of Amaya, about any of the company’s activities or decisions.
